Troubleshooting • Pi5 built in WiFi won't connect but a wifi dongle will - why?

I have a Vesper XB 8000 WatchMate AIS with a built in Wifi Client. A Raspberry Pi4 connects to the wifi client with no problem, an iPhone connects with no problems. A Mac connects with no problems, but the PI 5 refuses to connect and repeatedly asks for the WiFi password when the correct password is entered it try's to connect and then asks for the password again. attaching a USB wifi dongle to the Pi 5 allowed it to connect immediately. Pi 5 is running latest Raspian Bookworm OS. Any ideas why the PI 5's internal Wifi won't connect when everything else does?
