HATs and other add-ons • PI5 hangs when M2 is used

Newly bought the Pi 5 8GB with the following: Active cooler
Power adapter
52PI N04 M.2 PCIe To NVMe Top Hat
Crucial P3 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSD

Have had a few Pi’s many years ago but am not that familiar with them.

When I run it with an SD card all works as it should, tried PINN and Raspbian.

If I try to install on the SSD (PINN or Raspbian) it hangs and stops responding.

Tried to install from my Mac, from a PC and from the Pi started from SD.
If I try to use Imager to write to the disk the Pi hangs.
If I install it from another computer I can write to the disk but the Pi can’t start from it.

Any ideas what I can try to do?
Or what part seems to be broken?
The NVME Hat?
