Troubleshooting • Logging shutdown

When I issue a "shutdown" command, the Raspberry Pi OS desktop closes, a few lines of status or logging scroll up the text screen, the screen blanks, the LED's on my Ethernet jack are extinguished, the activity LED flashes 10 times, and the Pi shuts down, the monitor reports "No signal" soon after, switches to standby.

But sometimes it doesn't. It gets stuck scrolling text up the screen, doesn't ever shutdown, needs the power pulled.

Is there anyway to obtain what was scrolled on the screen before it shut down or had the power pulled other than transcribing it by hand or taking a photo ?
