A little backstory, I'll be traveling for work for 6months and we thought about getting a pet/baby two way camera with display so I can talk to my wife and kids whenever I'm in the apartment. Yes the idea is literally a video call but with its own camera and a screen rather than using the phone, and it can be on for a long period so it feels like I'm there even if I'm watching tv or working.
I have below basic knowledge of the raspberry pi, and I've tried searching for a similar project that uses two raspberry pi's, each connected to it's own camera and display while streaming to each other and haven't found anything.
What I have found is that I can probably use tailscale as a solution for a secure connection on both machines to view the stream.
And to use ustreamer for the usb cameras.
I'd appreciate any guidance on this, just letting me know if this is doable and pointing me in the right direction is more than enough.
