Beginners • Questions using Electret Microphone with PreAmp Board with Raspberry Pi

Hello I am new here and looking for some clarification with using a basic electret microphone with preamp with a raspberry pi. The project I am working on is a multiplexer for a mic array, so the idea is that we have buttons that "activate" corresponding microphones turning them on, these microphones then sequentially turn on and off "blink" in an array with a switcher button that changes the delay setting of the switching. I have wired this up and programmed it with the buttons as inputs and the LED pins as outputs with LEDs to represent the microphones.
I have been trying to find documentation, articles, and/or videos on using electret microphones with raspberry pi and I am running into a few issues.
1. If I have the buttons as input and the mics to turn on as outputs, how would I read the measurements of the microphone if they are registered in the pins as outputs.
2. Can you even use electret microphones with a preamp board with raspberry pi in the first place. Every time I try to look this up its always an application involving a usb microphone plugged directly into the pi. I haven't found any material using an electret microphone with preamp in a Raspberry Pi.
For reference this is the microphone I was planning on using. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SN ... UTF8&psc=1

I have seen applications of electret microphones used with Arduino, is it the case that I should switch over to Arduino for this project.
