Hi all - are there any BlueTooth / PAN / GATT experts out there?

I build a device that runs headless (no monitor/keyboard), connected to the cloud, using an RPi. All you need to do is plug it into the network and it runs. But - if you're on WiFi, you need to configure that first.

So - I have a Flask webserver running on the system for setup and maintenance, including WiFi config.

If there's no network connection, I enable BlueTooth to serve a Personal Area Network (PAN) so you can get in and do the WiFi configuration.

This actually all works today - but not consistently or on all devices. It's fine on my iPhone, but not my Mac... not on my colleague's iPhone, not on a Windows machine, and yet to test on Android. (Current Mac's apparently don't support PAN, I think... which is also an issue).

I "feel" it's related to the service characteristics or something, but there's SO little clear info out there - especially with recent Pi OS images (I'm using Bookworm).

If there's anyone who has some knowledge here let me know and I'll post fuller details on the current setup - or if there's a clear example out there it would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks,
Kevin.
