Beginners • ModuleNotFoundError

I am currently using circuitpython with Thonny. I am getting a ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'i2c_device.py'; 'i2c_device' is not a package.

I have the i2c_device.py file on the raspberry pi already. Why am I getting this error? I am using this Raspberry Pi 4b with an MCP 9600.
