Hello all,
I was wondering if someone can shed some light on this please as I seem to have gone around in a circle.
Today i have a process running quite happily on Pi3/4 where i use cvlc and mmal-layer to provide a seemless signage solution. This is achieved by knowing in advance how long the video is and then having 2 processes that flip flop between mmal-layer 3 and mmal-layer 4. This allows the video's to be completely seemless (although of course you could miss bits of the video on layer 3 if the length is close enough). I hope this desription makes sense and would love feedback on this but this isnt my question.
I am now testing on a PI2W, bookworm 32bit, and cvlc VLC media player 3.0.20 Vetinari (revision 3.0.20-0-g6f0d0ab126b) but no longer have mmal-layer as an option. I understand 64bit might not support it but this is 32bit. Maybe it was removed because of a security issue (although it wouldnt affect me)?
So
1. what am i missing to get mmal-layer on the pi2w?
2. is there a replacement for this layering that I'm not aware of?
3. is there alternatives that actually "work" (no gaps) to the videos (putting them all on a single command line / loop will not work for me - i often need to interrupt the schedule etc)?
Thank you so much in advance.
