Hi all. I'm a hardware newbie Image may be NSFW.

so pls be kind.
The most I've done is stick the basic fan on a pi 4 and basic heat sinks
Now I'm waiting for my Pi 5 to arrive and wanting to order add on bits
Ive seen lots of nvme options
Ive seen base boards and hats and can see the advantage of both however I like to but my boards in cases. Im thinking if I use a base boards I wont be able to add my pi into most cases which have space in the top end?
If I add the HAT nvme board then what about the fan, can I still put a fan on top??
I think I may have seen one with the nvme that goes over the fan hat. Is it possible?
Not having added anything much and not wanting to order redundant parts which just end up wasted thought I shld ask these basic questions.
Also with the nvme boards Im assuming the ones that have dual nvme capability, that I dont actually have to add the second nvme straight off, can be added later?
And what about all the gen 2/3/4, I get they are different speeds and may not be perceptible to me(?) Looks like individual boards have different gen capability? I'm assuming there is no restriction on different sized nvmes on a dual board.
I guess basically Im looking for basic good config options please Image may be NSFW.

My target is to set up next cloud and use the pi as a repository on my network.
